Reports to: Dr. Petek Settar
Location: 1915 Sugar Grove, Dallas Center, Iowa 50063

Primary Function:

To support breeding program by following data collection related to research department. Monitor research flocks production, performance data and assist all special projects. Work together with farm administration to follow up flock performances.


  • Maintain the data recording activities and ensure data quality
  • Prepare periodical reports about research flocks with status of project plans
  • Follow up on all research flock start of hatch
  • Assist with housing/rearrangements for flock evaluation
  • Assist farm staff with special projects, flock selection, and organize data records
  • Continual feedback and coordination with the Geneticist
  • Assist in providing technical support to our farm operation
  • Comply with OSHA, Bio-Security, and Welfare regulations
  • Ability to work independently

Special knowledge, Skills, Licenses, Certifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in animal science, work experience with poultry desirable but not essential
  • Proficient with MS Office: Word, Excel, and the aptitude to understand the company internal
  • database
  • Basic understanding of experimental design, statistics and animal breeding
  • Good oral and written communication skills with people at all levels of the organization
  • Being open to training and development opportunities
  • Maintain integrity with confidential information
  • Flexible in work hours to accommodate the work schedule

Physical Requirements:

  • Required to handle 10 to 20 pounds of force
  • Ability to work hands on with the flocks
  • Required to sit, stand, climb, and move about the facility
  • Work in both an office and farm environment
