Hy-Line's team of geneticists is continually making the genetic engine more powerful and more efficient. In fact, the recent pure line selections have documented a considerably higher response than achieved in previous years. We have narrowed the scope of genetic traits we analyze and, ultimately, use to select the next pure line generations, with the goal to achieve increased egg numbers, persistency, shell strength, egg weight and feed efficiency.
 
Hy-Line was the first poultry breeding company to apply the principles of hybridization to commercial layer breeding. Today, Hy-Line International continues to be a pioneer as the first company with its own in-house molecular genetics team leading the industry in application of DNA-based technology to its breeding and genetics program. Hy-Line does not use genetic modification by gene transfer technologies in any of our products. All the genetic improvement in our products is achieved by traditional selection methods.
 
Advances in DNA 'fingerprinting', allow Hy-Line geneticists to determine positive genetic traits with even more precision. Hens with outstanding genes are identified by analysing markers in their chromosomes, with traditional breeding methods then being used to deliver a stronger, welfare-friendly, high performance bird to customers.
