Each truck delivers a constant supply of fresh,
filtered air, while temperature controls allow them to be kept cool in warm weather, as well as heated in cold weather. This is particularly advantageous when transporting parent stock to Europe, where vehicles can be ‘plugged in’ while stationary, enabling optimum conditions to be maintained.

In-vehicle Transcan systems also alert drivers to any change in temperature that could have adverse effects on the birds. The system keeps a log of the vehicle’s temperature, which provides a print-off for customers to verify the temperature range during transit and complete assurance over chick welfare. It even shows when the doors have been opened.

In the event of an engine breakdown on any Hy-Line truck, the cooler engine will engage. The reverse would also take place should the cooler engine malfunction, ensuring that the welfare of the cargo is not threatened at any time. All Hy-Lines trucks are driven by dedicated drivers trained in bird welfare and are protected by priority service, full maintenance and emergency breakdown contracts.

Hy-Line UK is the only company of its kind to employ a fleet of state-of-the-art temperature-controlled vehicles that are fully equipped with a system that operates in-transit fumigation, wheel sprays and disinfection units to eliminate contamination and protection from any disease outbreak during egg and chick transportation. Trucks are thoroughly washed and sterilised, both inside and out, after every load.
